Erdwärme Grünwald is a successful model. It is only logical that EWG is one of the initiators of the Germany-wide campaign "Wärmewende durch Geothermie," which was launched in 2020.
First Mayor of Grünwald
"Grünwald takes the energy transition into its own hands and thus offers a clear answer to climate change.
Whoever decides in favor of geothermal energy says YES to our planet, to security of supply from domestic energy and to added value that stays in the community of Grünwald.
Erdwärme Grünwald has already won over 2,000 heating contract customers for geothermal energy; this means that around 3,500 Grünwald residential and commercial units are already connected to district heating today – from single-family homes to municipal properties such as schools, kindergartens and the leisure park to major customers such as Bavaria Film, KGAL, Schlosspassage and others.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those who make this "energy transition in Grünwald" possible: You, dear citizens of Grünwald, for your broad support of geothermal energy, all members of the municipal council for your future-oriented decisions, every single member of the Erdwärme Grünwald team for your expertise and commitment, and all workers and service providers for the concrete implementation of every single step of the process."
Geothermal energy is highly efficient while being climate friendly, cheaper in the long term than fossil fuels and it increases the value of your property. Learn more about the advantages and how to connect to district heating.

Geothermal energy or geothermal heat is energy stored as heat below the earth's surface. EWG is a pioneer in the field of deep geothermal energy and has decades of experience. Find out more about the geothermal treasure beneath Munich and the surrounding area – and how you can benefit from it.
Our geothermal plant has been awarded the title of "Goldenes Kraftwerk" ("Golden Power Plant") two times, in 2018 and 2019. Our nearby heating plant has been awarded "Goldenes Heizwerk" (Golden Heat Plant") in 2019.
"With geothermal energy, we are proving that we can supply the population with local heat in the long term – and at socially acceptable prices.
