The grid expansion

110 km district heating pipeline

In August 2010, just two months after the discovery was confirmed, construction of the district heating network started. Since October 2011, heat has been flowing reliably to Grünwald households, businesses and municipal properties such as kindergartens, schools and the town hall.

At the end of 2012, the main line of the Grünwald district heating network was completed. Since then, the network has been expanded from the main line into side streets and currently measures approximately 110 km. A true closed-loop system.

We are pioneers!

Erdwärme Grünwald is implementing the energy revolution in Grünwald and proves to be a powerful partner for the citizens.

The further expansion of the district heating network is progressing according to plan. An approximately 4.7 km long district heating transport pipeline is being built between the two locations of Laufzorn and Unterhaching, which supplies the north of Grünwald's district heating network.

Erdwärme Grünwald's customer base is also growing continuously. In the meantime, around 3,500 residential units in Grünwald are connected to the CO2-neutral geothermal energy – including major consumers such as Bavaria Film, many other businesses, the shopping centre "Schlosspassage" with around 40 shops, the Grünwalder Freizeitpark, schools, kindergartens and retirement homes.
